The research track of the Professional Development Institute (PDI) promotes the development of individuals who plan to pursue a scientific research career. This session is intended for advanced graduate students and early-career professionals (postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty).
The aim of this session is to help participants connect with and learn from program officers from the National Institute of Health and mid-career and senior researchers in the LGBT health field. This session will provide guidance on a variety of topics including looking for jobs and training opportunities, grant writing, and networking.
The service track of the Professional Development Institute (PDI) promotes the development of individuals who are responsible for direct service or its supervision. This session is intended for graduate students and early-career professionals (mental health professionals, health educators, case workers, social workers, community organizers, and other applied fields).
This year's theme will be "The Path to a Successful Career," and its aim is to help participants connect with and learn from accomplished professionals in diverse LGBTQ service areas. The focus of this session will be on decision making, problem solving, and best practices that may contribute to a successful career.
Four highly successful professionals, including administrators and mental health practitioners, will be part of the initial panel discussion. Then we will move to small break-out groups to specifically address your degree and individual strategy. This session is guaranteed to be informative, educational, inspirational, and of personal value.
